If IS82 is finalized into 1.9 then it should bring about some new players, if even for only a month. Seeing as 1942 is slowly dying out it would be good for the mod to have itself be finalized for players to come.
I also think that, depending on how easy it will be, maybe having an Interstate mod in BC2 or another game would be excellent, although even ISN is getting by slowly. Hopefully one for a newer game would get new people involved with it.

i personally think it's a waste of time to develop it on the bf1942 engine. the game is way too old to attract any players beyond a few past members. besides the cliche graphics and combat in comparison to today's battlefield experiences, the physics in general are vastly in need of improvement, especially while driving. the vehicles have a slow top speed, they lack any ability to drift, making turning a monstrosity sometimes, the brakes are practically useless in a sense, and there is practically no traction on the vehicles. even if these issues were to be fixed, i don't think we can expect anything more than a few new people on this engine. the newer games would fix all of the above issues i mentioned amongst add new features to the mix.
Edit: bob's comment basically sums up the problem that the community is faced with. with such a small community, it's very difficult to get a decent discussion between opposing viewpoints. the only ones that have stayed are those that are still completely bonded to this community, so obviously they're going to be in agreement. my comment was sarcastic and offensive in a way, but i wanted to try to offer a different outlook on the issue other than what we mostly hear
my response is wait for another battlefield game. i'd love to see is82 1.9 come about, but the bf1942 engine is definitely not the game to accomplish it on. to attract anything more than a few people a new engine needs to be considered.
You are such an idiot.. Why is it wrong to use the 1942 engine? A lot of people still loves Super Mario.. Idiot, its no about the looks, but the gameplay. Everytime someone posts something pro-Interstate you come along with your whining and complaining, why dont you just shut up and play the new games you like? I'm guessing... Farmville...
GO IS82 1.9! i'll help. And slick, you are free to leave if you want to :>But you are also welcome to stay, and all opinions should be treated with the same respect.. unless they suck bawlz..

Ea shipped 250k (yes 250k) copies of bf1942 last year. It's far from dead yet.
Of course EA can ship lots of copies, but I think where to is an more important thing (Junkyard) Edit: You wont see 250k online, half dont know how to update and the others dont want to, and others dont have internet, and others dont have computer, others dont have drive, othe.... And the timezones of course

Ea wouldnt have shipped 250k copies if there was no demand for them... supply & demand folks
I believe without a doubt a 1.9 final should be released. I wish I was more skilled in the process of mod making. Maps, cars, track pieces, aircraft, models of buildings, weapons, and terrains would most certainly bring folks in.
This is the only BF1942 mod that really has a solid community base around it. I'd really like to see more Aurora Valley and Country side type maps than anything. I'm going to pursue looking into the map making process. I've got 2 months to do nothing, so if anyone wants to starting putting at least an effort into something let me know.
