Last Month the Japanese try to retrive this mod a little bit more. They played in the at 2pm CET. At the moment the gametracker, com Server Monitorring is off. Hope soon they turn it on. The ranking seems to work.
-You Must use photoshop with the DDS plugin, the dds to tga batch file not working coz converting dds to tga 32 bit (bad for merging).
-Convert all your map texture dds files (all the files begining with Tx, like Tx00x00.dds) into Targa format (tga) 24 bit/uncompressed.
-Move all your Tga textures to your Battlefield 1942ShadowWorkBf1942levelsYOUR LEVELStextures folder, if thoses folders don't exist create them (YOUR LEVELS is your level name).
-Put in this same folder the TerrainPalette.pal file from the first step.
-Put the file is82maplightning.bat in your Battlefield 1942 root folder and open it with the notepad.
-replace all theses strings D:jeuxBattlefield 1942 by strings that follow your Battlefield 1942 path.
Example :
D: is the drive where my game is installed, Jeux is the folder where battlefield is installed, if your game is installed with the default path, then the path will be Crogram FilesEA GamesBattlefield 1942.
Save the modification to the batch file.
-Now you must launch the batch file with two value, example :
is82mapligthning.bat YOUR_MOD YOUR_MAP
YOUR_MOD is the mod where the map archive is YOUR_MAP is your mapname in the mod
so for making countryside lightmap, i used : is82maplightning.bat interstatedev countryside command.
You can add the values by making a shortcut to the batch file or using a command window.
-If working you will see a Battlefield black windows loading your map, and begining the raytracring, with the work progression.
Warning the raytracing could take to 2 hours (small maps) to 15 hours (big maps with a lot of objects, 15 hours was the time for making countryside shadow on my 2 GHz computer).
-Once finished, Hurray ! let's complete the job
-Download the tga to dds batch.
-Convert all Tx******.tga located in Battlefield 1942ShadowWorkBf1942levelsYOUR_MAPtexturesMerged folder to DDS format with the tga to dds batch files.
-Move all your DDS files into your map texture folder, and repack your map
-Enjoy a nice shadowed map (don't hesistate to redo the fog color, or map detail texture to suit better the new shadowed terrain).
These should be enough... There is another tutorial on this which i cant find.. ill post when i do. its a bit clearer. either at bfmods.com or the serversidemodding.com backup..
