For those of you who use WinRFA to pack your maps, you may notice that the alpha does not show up in-game. this is not an error of WinRFA removing the alpha channels from pics, as most rumors say, this is simply because WinRFA will not pack the envmap_g.rcm file. this file is in the "Textures" folder (the one with all the envmap-titled pics, and tx pics n such) of your extracted map, and it tells bf1942 where the envmap pictures are, so they can be applied to the model. WinRFA packing corrupts this file, therefore BF1942 doesn't know where the envmap pics are located, and it can't load them on the model. This is why nothing has shine. The easiest way to fix this is to open the map's RFA file with cruachan's rfa-explorer, browse to the "Textures" directory, and simply replace the corrupted envmap_g.rcm file with the one from your extracted map. I really hope this has helped anybody . only took me 5 mins to figure out when i was just wondering what caused this. lol

Well Rubba this is really weird. I did a re-pack of Battle on Deathrace where I made the buggyred chrome. Guess what, it worked! Why is that?
BUT! Adding the envmap to a map that did not have it, did not work... This is weird, guess I'll stick with Gmake RFA. <span class='smallblacktext'>[ Edited 04 May : 21:26 ]</span>
yes, but that's gmakerfa, not winrfa. i never said the map did not have the envmap_g.rcm, i said it was corrupted, so you'll need to replace the one in the packed map with the one in the extracted map. keyword is REPLACE.
i guess what a map packer does is it scans through all the data in a folder, copies it, and condenses it into one archive. my theory is that it has to be able to recognize and read the file inside that folder to be able to copy and compress it. i think that WinRFA simply doesn't understand RCM format.
i dont think it understands the rcm format, cuz BC doesnt either. you can open the envmap.rcm file with notepad, but you cant use BCs archive editor to open it. so im guessing none of EAs proggys understand it.
