Anyone played the CoD4 demo? I downloaded it with high expectations and was let down upon running through it today, the voice acting sounds like it got stuck somewhere between world war II and present day, and i think the franchise is about dried up, i mean really, 4 installments? then again, one could say the same for battlefield with that mindset, but battlefield delivers new content and gameplay changes in my opinion.
From what i saw, this is just a CoD2 with different weapons, somewhat better graphics and modernized vehicles. Sure my review may be a little harsh, but i really don't think the CoD franchise has much (if any) life left in it, the mechanics are rather awkward since you have to pretty much pop out and shoot someone, then take cover and wait to stop bleeding.
The bleed system is another thing i find rather dumb, i mean really, you take a few bullets, bleed a little and keep going? i think battlefield's damage system makes much more sense, granted the bleeding system does possibly make for a more playable single player campaign. But then again, CoD is so damn linear there's pretty much one and only one way to play it, and thus you really don't need to worry about health once you've played through it once (granted you have a good memory) as you'll know what's coming around that corner up ahead.
My review may be harsh, but with the November PC gaming line-up, CoD pails in comparison, by all means buy it if you are content to get nothing more than a full conversion mod of previous WWII installments. Another point of interest here is the M rating. This is the first M rated game in the series, and if you're going to be buying an M rated November release game, something like Crysis would most definitely be a better pick.
Bottom line, i wouldn't recommend it, don't waste your time with the 1gig+ demo download.

yeah, i am going by what i saw in the sp demo, but sadly enough the real game is often ALOT like the demo... but with the way things are going for gaming lately i wouldn't doubt that alot more time went into the xbox version
I agree with kahuna, the demo is amazing, but techinally, this is only the third installment, Treyarch made #3, and it sucked. they moved away from the WWII timeline because everyone has done it to death, COD1&2 are still hugely popular to this day. again, I was in the xbox 360 multiplayer beta, and that secured my faith in infinity ward, I was still on the fence about getting the game, there were already thousands of great games coming in the rest of the year, but WOW. anyway, have you ever played a COD game before?, they have many many war researchers, veterans, and active duty employees, you can't get more accurate than that, also, the bleed system is the norm with almost ever shooter coming out, including crysis, so you're not making a valid point there, AND the system requirements are much more accessible than crysis, even I can run it, so.. COD4 > Crysis.
you seem biased, infinity ward has always been a PC developer, that's why cod3 never came to PC, because it was not made by infinity ward, now, we're in 2007, and they have the technology and knowledge to develop for all three major system, ALL BEING EQUAL, simple. to kahuna, you phail, it's coming out the WEEK OF nov 5th, so US get it tuesday, I hope you haven't made plans, also, moved to other games.
errrr, if you havnt noticed the demo locks model detail and lighting detail i believe its lighting im not positive though to medium, so don't say anything about graphics

Yes, i was an avid fan of CoD2, played through campaign many times, but it was VERY linear... and then again, i don't play a game for the historical accuracy anyway, i play for the imagination and creativity of the developers. If the game was entirely accurate, there would be no way in hell you could complete any campaign as the first couple bullets would take you down.
